Suggest December books HERE

Okay, let's work on some books for December. Shall we include the book left over from this weekend's voting in the December list? We need suggestions NOW, so please think of something you would like to read and put it in the comments for this post. I'm going to suggest a big list this time, from books being considered by a group I'm a part of. But please, please, please don't let one or two of us suggest all the books. Add something you've been considering or have on your TBR pile. I'll keep adding all books suggested to this post, so we'll have all the nominations in one place.

I was able to vote. It was when I wasn't signed in.

On the December books, my first choice of those already suggested is Wish You Well with The Distinguished Guest as a close second. I've already read Water for Elephants and No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and although both were good reads, I am not interested in reading them again even though I could enjoy reading the discussion and chiming in as my memory allows.

I am currently reading Ken Follett's World Without End and may still be reading it in December if anyone would like to have a big read for December. My other choice would be Night Journal by Elizabeth Crook. I added it to my TBR list after reading a nice review of it in the Chinaberry catalog.

I've read a few of the books that have been suggested already.

I'm going to suggest Family Tree by Barbara Delinsky.

I've already red "Water for Elephants," "The No. 1 Ladies Dective Agency," "Wish You Well," and "March." All very good books, but I've read them too recently to want to re-read them. I voted for "The Memory Keepers Daughter."

I am just finishing up The Gilded Chamber by Rebecca Kohn which was to be the December read. I think it is an eye opening book, although it is very deep in a subject I would like to see the group read sometime in the future. My choice for a December read would be something light, that we could laugh and enjoy a little silliness. Reading is a wonderful pastime but around the holiday I need to keep my frame of mind uplifted. Are any of the books already mentioned delightful?

Good idea, Caboose! I remember reading Fannie Flagg's A Redbird Christmas one year, and it was lots of fun.

Hi everyone!
I have heard alot of the curious incident of the dog in nightime, I think that would be vote for that for holiday season. Besides, I am curious about the name anyway.

Also, whats the book for Nov. I think more votes lean toward boy in striped pajamas. I havent followed the discussions at all this time.

I voted for The Memory Keeper's Daughter for November since I have a copy and haven't read it.

The December book list is looking good with several on it I'd like to read. The only one I've already read is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. It was different and I liked it.

My suggestion for the list is going to be The Devil and Miss Prim by Paul Coelho. I started reading the first few chapters about two months ago and was really intrigued to see what would happen.

One of the books on the top of my pile....like Tricia...is Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell. I've already read Mark Haddon's book. But all the other books sound great!

Caboose said "My choice for a December read would be something light, that we could laugh and enjoy a little silliness." I really like this idea. Though, I have no idea what that would be. I've been wanting to read Cold Comfort Farm for some time, but haven't gotten to it. That might be fun.

The author Elizabeth Peters was recommended to me as well as the author Diana Gabaldon. Someone gave me a bunch of books by Gabaldon to read already so it's in my TBR Pile.

For Nov., my vote is for The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, but either one is good.

i'm brand new to this group. i've read a number of the suggested books, but i'm game for almost anything. one of the things i like best about participating with a book group is to stretch myself a little and maybe read things i wouldn't have picked on my own. i do like to plan ahead a bit, especially if i need to get a book on hold at the library, so the sooner decisions are made, the better for me.

Toby, I've read everything of Gabaldon's and I am now working my way through two of Elizabeth Peter's series! Fun books!

Marg, from discussions from a member in my art group, Elizabeth Peters is a pen name. I can't remember the author's real name at the moment, but saved the email where this person tells us her real name. Apparently, the person that mentioned her books loves them so much, that she wants to read every book that Elizabeth has written. There seems to be 2 different series of books, I hear, plus a couple or so that isn't in a series.
I read a little of one of the Gabaldon books, & it was very good.
Marg, thanks for letting me know that you like the books.

I had voted on The Curious Inci... for December but The Devil and Miss Prim is my vote, so we can pinpoint on a book. We shouldnt have so many books up for vote , I think we cant decide then. Let's narrow the selection down to 3 or something like that, it might be easier to decide.

As some of you know, I will read Anything as long as I can get it. I am travelliing to Canada in Nov, so I can always pick it up if I cant get it here. Of course, I do get MOST books here in India.

How is everyone enjoying the current read?
