My mother-in-law passed away last Friday. She had been in hospital for 4 days after a massive stroke, and she never regained consciousness after that. Her death was peaceful, and her family was with her when she died. She was 92, and active, bright and reasonably independent til her last day. Her death at this age wasn't a complete shock ofcourse, but now that she's gone, I feel that the centre figure of my husband's family is gone. We'll need time to adjust to that new phase in our lives.
We take comfort in the many sweet and moving reactions of family and friends.
For distraction I read Harry Potter. JK Rowling's masterpiece is the perfect way to get your mind of things, as many of you already know. I'm in book 3 now, The Prisoner of Azkaban. And I love it!!!!!

Sorry to hear of your loss Margreet.
Margreet,
I'm so sorry for you and your husband's loss. I will agree, Harry Potter will take you away from anything! I just finished the third book not too long ago as well!
I'm sorry, Margreet, because I know how disruptive and unsettling a death is, even when the person has lived a long and full life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and, if you need a hand to hold, here's mine.
I am so sorry for your loss Margreet!

I'm sorry for your loss, Margreet.
Thank you all for your sympathy!! Today was the funeral, and it was the perfect farewell. The service in her church, the long walk to the cemetary with so many people, the coffeetable afterwards. There were over 100 people, family, neighbours and friends. heartwarming and just like she would have loved it to be!! We feel so much better now, and strengtened to know so many people loved her, just like she loved everyone.
Teddy, I'm sorry to hear about your father. Had he been sick? Many years ago I lost my father suddenly, in a traffic accident.
Margreet, how nice that the funeral was just right. She must have been a friendly person.
Margreet,
I'd want to extend my sincerest sympathy to both your husband and yourself in what can be a trying time. It is never "easy" to say goodbye to those we love.
