HR challenge #1 ~ movie quotes
I got Jodi Picoult's House Rules yesterday and started reading. One thing that stands out is how many different movies are either quoted or alluded to. I challenge you to make a list of all the movies you can find as you read (or looking back over the book, if you've already finished it). Here's a start for you:

Has anybuddy started reading yet? Margie and I have finished reading it today, so I'll start posting something on May 1st. Comments are sent to up to ten people, so let me know if you want to be on the list or not. (If not, your spot can go to somebuddy else.)
Hey Bonnie
I'm #88 on the holds list at the library. I was #104 when I signed up the day after you posted about the group read. There are 62 copies in the library system and it's a 2 week loan so I'm confident that I'll get the book sometime during the month of May. Knowing Jodi, it will be a fairly quick read once I have the book.
I'm #123 on my library's hold list. It looks like there are 111 copies of the book in the system, so with some luck, I'll have it within a week or two. If I don't have it by May 5, I'll go buy a copy, so I won't be too far behind schedule.
This movie quote thing is intriguing me. I'm eager to get to the book!
If there is a slot open for me, I'd like to continue to receive comments. I realized that the waiting list was too long at the library so ordered the book from amazon. I'll begin reading it when I receive it. I'm looking forward to the discussions.
The book is thick, *BUT* I could not put it down! On Sunday children, grandchildren, and (one) great-grandchild gathered for my birthday, but I kept thinking about the book. On Monday my friend took me to lunch, and I told her about the book ... the book ... the book! I haven't written a book review yet, but I rate it 10 of 10. The only reason I didn't read straight through was that I was making notes of when a movie was mentioned. Here's what I wrote on my birthday:

Shirley, you and Jenn and Alison will always receive comments -- you three are among the most active buddies. The buddies I would take off the comments notification list are those who show up so seldom that I'm never sure whether they are still interested.
Reading House rules was more like inhaling it. It was that good and so hard to put down.
I hope to be on the list and reading all your comments as time prevails.
Lynne, you ARE on the list (you got the notification of a new comment).
I have been #1 on the wait list for a week now...the (one book) the base library has was due on april 26 and still has not been turned in. I have been trying not to buy as many books when i can help it but i am about to break down and get it.
Bonnie, thank you so much for posting the first chapter...now i HAVE to read the rest. Book club selection or not!
well only 90 days of this left...I have heard San Diego has a wonderful (and more than one) library. If you havent heard I have orders to Calfornia...
Marylyn
All,
noone eat that chocolate with the coffee bean on top...I want that one...
Marylyn
No, Marylyn, I hadn't heard about your new orders. Are you pleased? And okay, that piece of chocolate is yours, but don't wait too long to grab it.
About the book. You can answer discussion question #2, since you have read the first chapter. Jump right in! Nobuddy has to wait until she knows ALL the answers before posting a comment about ANY question.
I am sooo excited. I love going someplace new. I have been to San Diego before but just for a couple of weeks. I will be home in august so I hope we can see each other. I will let you know when I have more definitive dates.
