Voting for November book

Two books have been suggested so far. Should we have a few more? Our very first poll is at the top of the sidebar, but I want you to add comments here. I think we should decide more than two weeks ahead of time, but nobuddy has suggested any other books yet. Please comment on this post about how we should select books for the future.

This vote is a test of two things: (1) whether I'm doing it right, having never done this before; and (2) what your interests are. I intend to keep us updated here, even though the poll shows how the voting is going. For one thing, anyone can vote, but your comments here will tell us what we Book Buddies think.

I like the idea of picking books in advance.

Here is my possible suggestion. Pick maybe 4 books at a time. Start in on choosing/voting on them about two months before the current list ends. This way, the next 4 books are picked a month before the current list runs out.

I suggested 4 books at a time because that would give us notice of what we're reading for several month for planning, etc. but still allow us to read based on what the group is interested in at that time rather than if we had a book list for a year or more. Just my 2 cents.

how long do we have to vote? I suggest we leave the voting open until the last week of the month..Example: October ends wednesday 31st so the book for November will be announced 24th of October. Is a week long enough to get the book started before discussing this time?

One week is to short a time span for caboose, I need two weeks to get the book in hand and read for discussion.

I agree with Caboose and would prefer a two week notice. I think that the suggestion of choosing books four months (or even three months) at a time is a good one. I think getting too far ahead lacks flexibility in case newer insight changes our book preferences or the make up of our group changes.
